Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Koala looking cosy up a treeCURRUMBIN, QUEENSLAND – I am finally able to share the images from our Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary experience ! :) if you wanna go absolutely crazy at some of the cutest and funniest creatures on Earth (and a few scary ones so that you can forever be able to casually mention OH yep, that time I was standing “close” to a crocodile in Australia… :P ), then this is the place for you to visit for sure :) I have also been to Taronga in Sydney before and I loved that a lot too, even though I would probably say Currumbin would be my favorite because the area is wider and more jungle’y, far from the city. The animals seems to be enjoying a very good enviromnent of freedom, tropical goodness and some serious relax, while being looked after by loving park rangers :)

NOTE: this is going to be a long post :D

Welcome to the jungle, lush Aussie edition 1/2

Queensland nature tropical jungle lush

QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA – As some of you might already know, I am a hopeless treehugging, flower crazy, green-addict kind of person. What is better than walking among lush rainforest, and jungle-looking areas of Queensland? I’ll let you judge :) Some of these images were shot around Gold Coast, others at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, which I highly recommand visiting both for the plants and for the (ridiculously cute) animals. If any of you knows the names of the less common plants pictured here please leave a comment, I’ll be happy to learn more about it :)

It’s a koala life: the real role model

Koala bear up an eucalyptus tree looking as if blinking

QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA – So, honestly koalas know everything about the true meaning of life. Their combination of sleep-eat-hug tree-repeat is quite THE lifestyle, which makes of them the most relaxed and arguably the smartest creatures on Earth. Of course, they never forget to stay beautiful :) Fluffy is the new black.

Standing in front of your dreams

Photographer girl aka me standing alone in front of the steps of the Opera House in Sydney

Shooting the Sydney Opera House with hardly any people there…. priceless !

I was seriously surprised of having the Opera House all for myself in this (extremely short) moment without any crowd.

The fact that there were approximately 500° C under the sunlight might have had something to do with it but to me this moment was just perfect :) SYDNEY I LOVE YOU

Moments in Burleigh Heads

Couple walking on the beach carrying surfboards

BURLEIGH HEADS, QUEENSLAND – We’ve been to Burleigh shortly after visiting Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (heaps of koala/roo/wombat cuteness coming soon!) and stopped for a delayed lunch (aka berry cheesecake with vanilla icecream :D) and some beach photos :) It was around dusk and the sky opened up from the clouds for a little while, enough to get to enjoy the beauty of the place with a hint of blue sky. It’s a great vantage point to admire Gold Coast’s majestic skyscrapers in front of the ocean. Also, please bare with me while I am still completely obsessing over all the tropical flowers and plants, like the hibiscus and flame tree here… :)

Sydney Royal Botanic Garden: part 1

Glorious golden light with sun shining behind a tree in Sydney Royal Botanics Gardens

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Walking around the Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney at golden hour is so dreamy and interesting. You’ll see lots of local trees and plants that are not very commonly found overseas: from gum trees to bottlebrush, to huge ferns and special varieties of tropical palm trees from QLD, to the incredibly prehistoric-looking half-fallen tree below in the photos. The atmosphere is of course as laid back as you would expect it to be from an Australian city park :) I especially loved the contrast between the wild-looking nature and the skyscrapers in the background that seems to pop up all the time while walking along. Add to this the beautiful golden tones of a powerful ozzy sun (powerful even at dusk) and here it is :) My recipe for a traveller’s dream exploration of the city park ! xx
